Software

The software portion of this dissertation is a tool that maps the white keys of a midi keyboard to interval cycles.

The current version (1.0) is implemented in SuperCollider for Mac OS.

The design allows for the mapping of any interval cycle to the white keys but retains middle C (C4) as midi note number 60, or its closet equivalent if the given interval cycles does not contain the pitch C4.

Future Features:

  • Toggle between Interval Cycles and the normal keyboard mapping.
  • Implement a notation interface to show pitches in real-time.
  • Implement the software in Max/MSP for larger market appeal.
  • Create stand-alone application for Mac.
